The Le Mans round of the 2011 FIM Endurance World Championship got underway yesterday and it was a typically efficient performance from the BMW Motorrad France 99 team.
The night practice session saw Erwan Nigon help the Championship leaders in to a comfortable lead, with a record-breaking 1’36.224 qualifying lap. Monster Yamaha YART (with Loris Baz replacing the injured Gwen Giabbani) took second; and the Yamaha Racing France 94 Ipone team the third fastest average lap time.
The Honda TT Legends finished 9th fastest, and will have some work to do if they are going to trouble to podium come race day.
The second qualifying session gets underway today at 11am.
