Last month we reviewed Furygan’s ‘Grip’ jacket and this month they sent us the ‘Spyder’ to try out – and our intrepid tester hasn’t been seen without it ever since it arrived. Its vivid styling means it looks much more dramatic than the more traditional Grip, but more importantly, it feels far more suitable for track duties. It has a built-in but removable back protector and the all-important D30 elbow and shoulder pads.
These are easy to take on and off and are very unobtrusive. When they’re in place they don’t affect the looks and don’t reduce movement either.
Our tester has found the Spyder to be incredibly comfortable; the jacket has cloth inserts at strategic points – the elbows and sides – instead of leather, which make it very flexible and easy to move around on the bike. The only downside of these inserts is that they do let the rain in – which then has no means of escape.
The jacket comes with a removable lining, adding that extra layer of warmth, although the jacket is pretty snug without it and overall our tester found it to be a well made, good quality piece of clothing – we’re just hoping Furygan don’t want it back as we will have to prise it off him!
It’s available in black, white and black, black and red or black and blue and costs £349.99. For stockists visit www.nevis.uk.com or call 01425 489 475.
